In my absence the post-mortem examination was conducted by Assistant Surgeon Prisitosh Haldar, who found the following appearances. The membranes and surface of the brain were much congested. The veins were distended with dark blood. There was a considerable quantity of red serum effused beneath the arachnoid, and the brain substance was congested, the puiicta cruenta being particularly well marked. The lateral ventricles contained reddish serum, and the choroid plexus was much congested. Both lungs were congested, the right only posteriorly. The pericardium contained half an ounce of straw-coloured serum. The right cavities of the heart were full of dark coagula of blood and fibrinous clots of a yellowish white color, which extended into the pulmonary arteries; the left cavities of the heart contained similar clots, which extended into the aorta and pulmonary veins. Lurynx and trachea pale. Liver very much en 1 urged. Iutestines distended with hard scybalie of frecal matter; all other organs fairly normal.
